Charles' birdhouses at Rideau Woodland Rambles

This afternoon, we went to Rideau Woodland Ramble , a wonderful nursery near Burritts Rapids to drop off some of Charles’ birdhouses. They are now for sale at the nursery.

Painting projects

My (painting) projects at the moment. Yesterday I started the two blue paintings on the left, neither for an art class preparation, nor for a book illustration, just for me. One probably will have a fish on it, the other one I don’t know yet…will see what the background dictates me. The red one is a prototype for a book case I am building for my students at Kanata Montessori and I am continuing working on book illustration #9.

Shapes and hues

Saturday we went to a small nursery near Kinburn, Ontario. I really enjoyed looking at the aquatic tropical plants: so many shapes, so many hues of greens!

Flower

Flower prototype for a future display for Kanata Montessori School…
I made a lot of flowers like this one when I was a teenager. I used crepe paper which I haven't located yet in Ottawa...So I had to improvise with tissue paper. Crepe paper is wonderful. It can hold shape (stiffer than tissue paper), easy to paint and very absorbent, you can create beautiful bleeding of colours for petals or leaves.

Wire self-portraits

Self-portraits by grades 7 and 8 inspired by the artwork of Alexander Calder
After making the face, student had the choice to add either words or object made of wire which represented them. Some of the students like to travel (Eiffel Tower, camera), some like video gaming and other like cat or gecko...
Kanata Montessori School
